About Us

VOICES is an arts organization which conducts programs in collaboration with community members and conducts multiple arts education partnerships within the Roaring Fork Valley School District schools. Through the arts, VOICES amplifies perspectives and stories which are often unheard by minority or otherwise marginalized community members at varying age levels. Our emphasis on social emotional learning through the arts helps our program participants build empathy for one another and their own experiences. Our main work is as a devised-theatre company, meaning we explore personal stories and develop theatrical expressions of those experiences as opposed to working from a typical theatre working from a script. We involve multiple art mediums ranging from theatre, to visual art, and music in our educational programming. By collaborating with diverse people and ideas, participants develop an understanding of self and other, making choices that connect us rather than divide us. Participants are empowered to live their authentic lives, feeling seen, feeling heard.
