Protecting the places you love since 1967. Aspen Valley Land Trust's mission is to permanently preserve open lands for agriculture, wildlife habitat, scenic enjoyment, and recreation in the greater Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys. We partner with landowners and public entities to protect vital open spaces from Independence Pass to DeBeque. With our community's support, AVLT has conserved over 40,000 acres and 90 miles of stream corridors in our first 50 years.
But conserving land is only the beginning. AVLT responds to community needs, working with local schools to create new outdoor education opportunities, restoring damaged wildlife habitat, improving access to public lands, supporting local food growers and protecting the heritage of our community.
AVLT is a community-supported nonprofit 501(c)3 organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our work is funded by charitable contributions from donors within our community. AVLT is a nationally accredited Land Trust who is certified by the State of Colorado to accept conservation easements.
